How Sound Drip builds buying evidence

Retailer listings

Each offer records the retailer, price, stock state, destination URL, verification state, and a persisted observation timestamp. Every price we hold is shown, at any age, with the date it was observed printed beside it — a figure you can date is more useful than a blank space. What an older record loses is the claim, not the number: only an observation no more than 7 days old is described as current, carries a stock state in the present tense, or is eligible for the best-price badge. Anything older is marked as last seen on its date and asks you to verify before buying.

We refresh these by hand. Sound Drip runs no price scrapers, so a catalog-wide sweep is a deliberate act rather than a background job, and most observations on the site are weeks rather than hours old. Printing that date is the honest way to publish them.

Reference prices

Most products here show a manufacturer reference price (MSRP) rather than an observed retailer offer. It is labeled as such wherever it appears and is never presented as a deal, a current retailer price, or a price-history observation. An MSRP carries no observation date of its own, so any date shown next to one refers to our last retailer check on that product, not to the figure itself. Where we have never recorded a price for a product, the page says so instead of leaving a number unexplained.

Amazon prices

We never display an Amazon price. Amazon rows appear as a link with no figure beside them, on the page and in structured data alike. This is a condition of the Amazon Associates program, not a data gap — the price exists in our records and we choose not to publish it.

Structured data

Product offer schema is emitted only from observed retailer prices, never from an MSRP. Emitting a manufacturer list price as a machine-readable offer would assert a price no retailer has been seen selling at, so most products here deliberately carry no offer schema at all. Offers age out of structured data after 90 days — a wider window than the 7-day one above, because a hand-refreshed catalog would otherwise publish none. We omit priceValidUntil rather than guess at it: it asserts a price holds until a future date, which an unrechecked figure cannot support.

Specifications and recommendations

Specifications are database-driven and should be checked against the manufacturer before purchase. Buying guides explain criteria and tradeoffs; they are not claims that Sound Drip physically tested or owns every product. We do not publish ratings, review counts, or testing claims without supporting evidence.

Price history and deals

A deal requires a current verified offer and at least one earlier persisted observation. We never infer a drop from MSRP alone. Historical lows and ranges exclude invalid, unavailable, zero-price, and Amazon observations.

That bar is high enough that nothing clears it much of the time, since repeat observations only accumulate when we re-check a product by hand. Rather than serve an empty page, /deals then shows where each category starts, ranked by manufacturer reference price and labeled as list prices. Those are picks, not discounts, and are never described as a saving.

Affiliate relationships

Some outbound links can earn Sound Drip a commission without changing the shopper's price. Commercial relationships do not change the freshness rules or product ordering. Read the affiliate disclosure.
